A nationwide survey found that nearly 1 out of 5 schoolrooms has elevated radon above 4 pCi/L. It is more important than ever to test schools to ensure the safety of students and staff.
Special protocols need to be followed for testing schools and commercial spaces. These can differ slightly from Multi-Family (Apartments or Condo’s) so it is important to hire someone that has the appropriate accreditation (AARST Multifamily School Radon testing) and experience to maintain the integrity and appropriate quality control measures.
We have the following additional accreditation through the NRPP:
-AARST Advanced Radon Measurement/Mitigation Professional (ARP)
-Radon Resistant New Construction Certificate (RRNC)
-Multi-Family Measurement Certificate (MFM)
Testing typically consists of deployment and retrieval of passive test kits. We typically use Airchek test kits as they are rated to be hung from the classroom or apartment walls where they are out of sight and out of mind. A quick, 3 Minute, deployment and retrieval is all that is needed. This allows for minimized interference with occupants.
